During the Summer time, my main focus is on healthy-looking, dewy skin! I want to be looking glowy (rather than sweaty) and have minimal product on my face. This also means that I don’t fuss around with crazy or bold eyeshadows etc. either.
To make up for the lack of colour on my eyes, I opt for a bold lip instead. Don’t get me wrong though, I love having a completely skin-focused look with neutral tones on both the eyes and lips, which is why one of these options is a nude shade.
The video above is a link to my YouTube tutorial, where I break down the entire makeup look and show you how I apply each product. For a written breakdown of the 3 lip products, continue reading!
Hot Pink – The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid in Tokyo Lotus
For those of you that know me, you know that I love pink. That’s why this shade is an absolute MUST (if you dare). It’s definitely a statement lipstick, which is why I like to keep the rest of the face very natural looking, giving the lipstick the attention it deserves.
This colour definitely isn’t for everyone, but if you’re wanting to spice up your summer makeup look, it’s definitely one to try!
Nude – The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid in Windsor Rose
I’m a sucker for lipsticks that look like my lips but BETTER – so this shade is an absolute winner for me. It’s also incredibly versatile, so if you’re looking for a shade that you can wear all year, no matter the season, this one is a good shout! It’s quite difficult to find a ‘light’ toned nude lipstick that suits my skintone, as a lot on the market are too light or have a very pink undertone, so finding this one was like finding gold!
If you have my kind of complexion I highly recommend it, but I also think it would look stunning on a variety of skin tones. I also really like that these lipsticks dry matte but are still super comfortable on the lips. You literally don’t even feel like you’re wearing anything – perfect for a hot summer’s day!
Bold Orange – NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Morocco
Okay, now this last lipstick shade might just be my favourite out of the three. This shade is INSANE. I would never think of myself as someone who would suit bright, garish colours like this one but my-oh-my does it compliment a deep skin tone!
It’s definitely a summer-specific shade in my book, but I have no issue with that as I love to change up my looks for each season. If you’re looking for more of an everyday shade, however, this probably isn’t the one for you.
